Counseling Fees at Renew Counseling Center
We believe you should know the cost of counseling before you call. No hidden fees, no billing surprises. Renew is a self-pay practice with rates starting at $45 per session.
What does counseling cost at Renew?
Rates vary by your counselor's credential level. Every counselor operates within Renew's clinical framework and under appropriate supervision.
Group Counseling
Small groups led by a licensed counselor — the most affordable way to get consistent weekly support. See current groups on our Group Counseling page.
Master's Practicum Student
Graduate-level supervised intern completing clinical hours toward their degree
Life Coach
Certified life coaching — goals, transitions, personal growth. Not licensed clinical counseling.
LPC-Associate
Licensed, supervised by a licensed supervisor. Full clinical care at accessible rates.
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Fully licensed — all supervision requirements complete. Years of clinical experience.
Couples & Family Counseling
Joint sessions with two or more participants — couples, family therapy, or premarital counseling. Offered with our fully licensed counselors (LPC and LPC-S) at $115 per session.
ADHD Screening & Assessment
Three appointments: $100 clinical intake, $150 testing session, $100 results & report review — conducted by our LPC-Associate under LPC-S supervision. Full details on our ADHD page.
LPC Supervision
Individual supervision for LPC-Associates with an LPC-Supervisor — $90 per session, or triadic supervision at $55 per person. Learn about supervision at Renew →
What each credential level means
Not all counselors are the same — and the difference matters for your care.
Master's Practicum Student
Enrolled in a graduate counseling program and completing required clinical hours toward their degree. Supervised by both their university program and a licensed supervisor. Trained, attentive, and under active oversight.
LPC-Associate
Completed their master's degree and passed the NCE licensing exam. Licensed by Texas BHEC, working under supervision of a licensed supervisor while accumulating the 3,000 hours required for full licensure. The most common credential level at Renew.
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Fully licensed. All supervision requirements complete. Brings years of clinical experience and independent practice authority.
LPC-Supervisor (LPC-S)
Holds an additional BHEC credential authorizing them to supervise LPC-Associates. Senior clinicians at the highest level of licensure in Texas.
Couples & Family Counseling
Joint sessions involve more clinical preparation, coordination between participants, and structured facilitation — which is reflected in the rate. This applies to any joint session: couples counseling, family therapy, or premarital counseling. Offered with our fully licensed counselors (LPC and LPC-S) at $115 per session.
Payment & insurance
How we accept payment
We accept major credit and debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and cash. Payment is collected at the time of service through our secure payment system.
HSA & FSA cards
Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account cards are accepted and run just like a credit card. HSA/FSA eligibility applies to licensed counseling sessions. For life coaching, check with your plan administrator.
About insurance — how superbills work
Renew does not bill insurance directly. We operate as a private-pay practice. However, we provide superbills — detailed itemized receipts — after each session that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Many clients with PPO plans receive partial reimbursement. HMO plans typically do not reimburse out-of-network. Coverage and reimbursement rates vary by plan and are never guaranteed.
A superbill includes: service date, procedure code, diagnosis code, your counselor's credentials and license number, and total billed amount.
- You pay Renew at the time of service
- We provide a superbill after each session
- You submit the superbill to your insurance
- Your insurer determines reimbursement based on your out-of-network benefits
Cancellation policy
24-hour notice required
We require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, or missed without contact, will be charged the full session fee.
