Who Refers to Renew

We work with the professionals families trust most

Renew is the go-to mental health referral partner for providers across East Texas who work with teenagers, children, and families. Here's who sends us referrals — and why.

Physicians & Pediatricians

When a patient presents with behavioral concerns, mood changes, somatic complaints, or an ADHD workup, Renew provides evidence-based outpatient counseling with clear communication back to the referring provider. We specialize in adolescent mental health.

School Counselors & Campus Staff

School counselors are often the first to identify struggling students. When a student needs support beyond what the school can provide, Renew offers professional counseling that works alongside — not against — the support systems already in place at school.

Pastors & Church Leaders

We regularly receive referrals from churches and faith communities whose members need professional mental health care. Renew understands faith-informed values and provides care that complements rather than conflicts with pastoral support.

Hospitals & Discharge Planners

Following psychiatric hospitalizations or crisis stabilization, ongoing outpatient counseling is critical for long-term recovery. Renew accepts post-discharge referrals for adolescents and adults and coordinates with inpatient teams when appropriate.

Community Organizations & Nonprofits

Youth-serving organizations, family services agencies, and community nonprofits in East Texas regularly refer clients to Renew. We're known in the community as a trusted, relational practice that treats families with respect.

How Referrals Work

Simple process. Quick response.

We make it easy to refer and easy for families to follow through.

1

You Make the Connection

You can call us directly at (903) 386-3824 or fax us at (903) 698-6007 to discuss a client, or simply give the family our number and let them reach out. Either works.

2

Family Calls for a Fit Call

We schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation with the family. This helps us match them with the right counselor and reduces the drop-off between referral and first appointment.

3

Quick Scheduling

We work to schedule new clients promptly. For urgent referrals, let us know when you call — we'll do our best to prioritize placement.

4

Coordinated Care When Appropriate

With appropriate release of information, we can communicate with referring providers about treatment progress and collaborate on care plans for shared clients.

Why Professionals Refer to Renew

What makes Renew different

Teen Specialists

Most of our referrals involve adolescents. Our team is specifically trained and experienced with teenagers — including the rapport-building that actually gets teens engaged in counseling.

Team of 6 Licensed Counselors

With 6 licensed counselors and a dedicated support team, we have the capacity to accept new referrals consistently and match patients to the right fit rather than whoever is available.

Warm, Relational Practice

Renew is known in the community for being approachable, non-stigmatizing, and family-centered. Families who come here tend to stay — which means your referral follows through.

Trauma-Informed & Evidence-Based

We use evidence-based approaches — CBT, EMDR, DBT-informed techniques, trauma-focused CBT, and play therapy — alongside strong therapeutic relationships.

Telehealth Available

For patients with transportation barriers or rural locations in East Texas, we offer telehealth statewide. This significantly improves follow-through on referrals.

Faith-Informed When Appropriate

For patients and families where faith is central, we offer faith-integrated counseling. This matters in the East Texas context and reduces resistance to entering care.

Common Questions

What referring providers ask most

How do I make a referral to Renew?
The easiest way is to call us at (903) 386-3824 or fax us at (903) 698-6007 and give us a brief clinical picture. We can discuss appropriateness and give you a sense of current availability. You can also simply give the family our number and ask them to call — and let them know to mention your name so we can coordinate if needed. We do not require a formal referral form.
Do you share clinical information with referring providers?
Yes, with appropriate release of information signed by the client. We can communicate with referring providers, coordinate care, and provide progress updates when there is a clinical need. We handle all releases in compliance with HIPAA.
Do you accept Medicaid or insurance?
Renew does not currently accept Medicaid or bill insurance directly. We operate as an out-of-network provider with session fees ranging from $45 to $115. We provide superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We're aware that cost is a barrier for some families and work to keep fees accessible.
What's your current availability?
Availability varies by counselor and shifts regularly. The best way to check is to call us directly. We try to get new referrals scheduled within 1–2 weeks whenever possible. For urgent situations, please let us know when you call.
Do you see adults or just teens?
We serve teens, children, adults, and families. Our primary specialty is teen and family counseling, but our counselors have broad training and see adult individual clients across a range of presenting concerns.
